February 2023 Newsletter

LILY’S CORNER

A Note From Our Chair

Lily NewfarmerAlthough it’s February, this is our first 2023 newsletter, so Happy New Year! Last year was a good year for CUWLA, and we anticipate an even better year in 2023, starting with our 2nd Annual Meeting to be held on Wednesday, April 5th, during our normal Meet and Greet time slot. You should have already received the announcement, but you can also find it posted on Basecamp.

We’re excited to kick off 2023 with a Member Meet-up at the GAC on Sunday, February 26th. Invitations have been sent, and we’re looking forward to seeing some of you there; if not at the reception, sometime during the week.

Lily Headshot

I’m pleased to report that CUWLA will be well represented at the Herb Wegner Awards Dinner where two of our members will be honored. Congratulations, again, to Linda Bodie and Winona Nava on receiving this prestigious award. Can’t wait to celebrate!

Linda and the Marketing Committee have been busy working on plans for the September conference, to be held in sunny California! The agenda is shaping up to be pretty amazing, including the celebration of the 2023 coaching cohort completion. Check out the website and Basecamp for details.

I’ve mentioned Basecamp a couple of times and am thrilled to see the engagement that is happening there. As you know, it’s a great venue for sharing ideas and supporting one another. With the staggering amount of information and idea exchanges that take place on the message board, it’s easy to get off-topic and lose the discussion thread, so we need to be mindful of proper netiquette while we’re conversing there, and try to stay on topic as much as possible.

And let’s not forget the criticality of the information we are sharing with the public and current and potential CUWLA members, donors, and supporters, via the website and through personal communication. Let’s all keep spreading the good word. We’re at 150 members, with a goal to be at 250 by the end of the year, and I have every confidence that we will succeed – we’re genetically geared that way!

I’m looking forward to seeing the GAC attendees, and hoping to see many more of you in California! Meanwhile, stay warm and stay in touch!

BASECAMP TIPS

1. Want to acknowledge/thank someone for a post? Check out “boosts”. This is a way to give a thumbs-up, or short thank you, without creating an email response.

2. Too many emails? Change your Notification settings and you will still get a daily recap.

3. If you do get an email on each post, click on “reply in Basecamp.” This will take you to that post and your reply will not include your normal closing salutation which may include your name plate and credit union promos.
