CUWLA launched in 2021 with a vision of providing a safe space for women CEOs of credit unions with asset sizes up to
$300 million, offering mentorship, education, and collaboration to help them thrive.
These small organizations are at the heart of the credit union movement and are vital to the success of our shared vision
as a credit union system. Our founding donors came at such a critical time as challenges, particularly among small credit
unions and women in the workforce intensified with the historic pandemic of COVID-19.
These donors will always hold a special place for CUWLA founders as they made it possible for our organization’s
infrastructure to be built, including our business plan, website, and community forum. With their financial and in-kind
support, we incorporated, submitted a 501c3 application, and appointed our board and committees. We collaborated
with the National Credit Union Foundation to host a special educational workshop and held monthly and quarterly
networking and learning opportunities.
